<p>The species diversity of lignicolous freshwater fungi in China is currently being studied. In this process, seven strains of <i>Papulosaceae</i> were collected from rivers and streams in karst landforms in Yunnan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China. Based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of combined ITS, LSU, SSU, <i>TEF1-α</i>, and <i>RPB2</i> sequence data, these strains were precisely identified. Among them, a new species <i>Wongia guttulata</i> and four known species, viz<i>.</i>, <i>Fluminicola saprophytica</i>, <i>W. bambusae</i>, <i>W. fusiformis</i>, and <i>W. miscanthi</i> were identified. The sexual morph of <i>Wongia fusiformis</i> was provided for the first time in this study.</p>
