摘要

Polyporales are mainly wood-decaying fungi, essential for maintaining the carbon cycle and bioengineering suitable habitats for other species. Despite their immense ecological significance, the global diversity of these fungi remains inadequately explored. This study focuses on the morphological and molecular analyses of two Polyporales collected from the Hindukush Mountains in Swat, KP, Pakistan. Through morphological examination and molecular assessment based on ITS + nrLSU sequence data, the study identifies and describes two new species: Phlebia swatensis S. Hussain, M. Nisar & Y.W. Lim (Polyporales, Meruliaceae) and Xanthoperenniporia pileata S. Hussain, M. Nisar & Y.W. Lim (Polyporales, Polyporaceae). These newly reported species exhibit distinct morphological characteristics and occupy unique positions within their respective phylogenetic tree.
