New species, a taxonomic combination, and records of lichenicolous Abrothallus (Abrothallales, Dothideomycetes): species on Peltigeraceae and Pannariaceae

Abrothallus is a genus of globally distributed lichenicolous fungi, species of which inhabit various lichens with foliose and fruticose thalli. This paper focuses on species that grow on members of Peltigeraceae and Pannariaceae families. By combining DNA sequence data and morphological observations, we describe three new species – Abrothallus diederichii on Lobaria pulmonaria (Austria, Norway, Russia, Sweden), A. epiclathratus on Crocodia crocata (Bolivia, Kenya), and A. nitassinan on Erioderma (Canada, Colombia, Russia); we synonymize A. puntilloi with A. lobariae and provide new phylogenetic and distributional information for A. halei and A. canariensis. A host-based identification key is provided.
