A high throughput JPEG2000 lossless encoder architecture
摘要
As the next-generation image compression standard succeeding JPEG, JPEG 2000 achieves superior compression performance by utilizing DWT and EBCOT. However, due to the high complexity of JPEG 2000, processing images requires significant computation time and resources. To address this challenge, this paper proposes a straightforward BPC encoding structure that allows EBCOT encoding of wavelet coefficients with only one scan per coefficient. Building upon this, a pipelined structure for lossless encoding is introduced, which can encode images with jpeg2000 lossless encoding at a rate of one pixel every two clock cycles. The entire encoding architecture is tested on an FPGA platform, demonstrating that a single encoder IP core achieves a maximum throughput of 165 million pixels per second at a working frequency of 330 MHz, equivalent to encoding 4k(
