摘要

Background

The mental health of students has continued to decline in recent years. At the same time, digital support services are rarely used. This may be due to low digital mental health literacy.

Objectives

This study examines changes in the mental health of Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) students in recent years as well as various determinants of mental health, including digital mental health literacy.

Materials and methods

An online survey (N = 2436) was used to assess burnout (MBI-KV SS), resilience (RS-13), perceived study conditions (JCQ-Studium), and digital mental health literacy (DHLI).

Results

The present sample is more mentally stressed than their fellow students in 2017. The digital mental health literacy is moderately to slightly low in the sample. The digital mental health literacy is a protective factor in dealing with stress-related demands.

Conclusion

The results show that the stress experienced by JGU students has increased in recent years. The promotion of mental health should therefore be integrated into everyday student life. In order for such services to be used, it seems important to increase the digital mental health literacy of students.
