Background <p>Post-COVID syndrome occurs in about one of two COVID cases. It is one of the biggest challenges facing the healthcare system. The professional and needs-based care of those affected is still precarious. This study presents a&#xa0;telemedical care approach and initial evaluation results.</p> Methods <p>In a&#xa0;telephone health programme, post-COVID patients are accompanied by medical professionals over several months. The programme focuses on teaching pacing strategies to reduce fatigue symptoms. The Fatigue Assessment Scale (FAS) is used to record fatigue at the beginning (T1) and at the end of the programme (T2). The programme structure as well as the change in the FAS are presented.</p> Results <p>The population was on average 52.4&#xa0;years old and predominantly female (72%). A&#xa0;coaching programme lasted 185 (standard deviation [SD] = 47) days, 6.2&#xa0;(1.4) telephone calls and 179 (63) minutes of conversation. At the beginning, 80&#xa0;out of 85&#xa0;participants showed elevated FAS values in the sense of existing fatigue, 50&#xa0;of them in the moderate range (28.58 [3.60]). In all, 30&#xa0;participants achieved values of extreme fatigue (39.73 [3.26]). A&#xa0;significant reduction in fatigue was demonstrated for both groups at the end of the programme (moderate fatigue 2.20 [6.11], <i>p</i> = 0.014; extreme fatigue 5.43 [8.30], <i>p</i> = 0.002) with small to medium effect sizes (Cohen’s d = 0.36 and 0.65).</p> Conclusion <p>The presented care approach proves to be practicable due to its multidisciplinarity and independence of place of residence. Those suffering from extreme fatigue were the main beneficiaries. Further studies are recommended.</p>
