Schulgesundheitsfachkräfte in Deutschland
摘要
Many students exhibit low health literacy, which is connected to sociodemographic factors and their opportunities for education and health. In some countries, such as Sweden or the USA, school nurses contribute to prevention, health promotion, and care of children and families. This reduces teachers’ workload, enables students to learn better and shapes their health literacy at an early stage. To strengthen health and educational opportunities, a workshop was held where representatives from science, politics, education, and healthcare discussed opportunities for further development.
ChallengesThe establishment of school nurses in Germany remains fragmented due to the lack of unified regulations. The task spectrum in the various institutions, qualifications, employment conditions, and funding vary across federal states. Moreover, there is currently only limited evidence on the impact of school nurses’ interventions.
RecommendationsThe implementation of school nurses requires a clear mandate with a defined task profile, as well as legal, educational, and interdisciplinary competencies. Furthermore, legal anchoring and long-term financing should be pursued to ensure a sustainable approach. The Theory of Change can be utilized to demonstrate effectiveness, thereby supporting a structured, and interdisciplinary evaluation. Countries like Sweden can serve as a model.
