摘要

This study investigates the behavioral patterns and user characteristics associated with the multimodality usage of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) chatbots. Multimodality usage of GenAI chatbots refers to the actual diversity in how individuals employ GenAI tools across multiple dimensions: purposes of use, types of GenAI applications, and forms of output generated. The study examines the associations between users’ perception of multimodal GenAI usage and several psychological and behavioral variables. A total of 178 adult GenAI users participated in an anonymous quantitative online survey. The results reveal that perceptions of multimodality are positively correlated with information Literacy Self-Efficacy (ILSE), openness to experience, social-influence, and positive emotions. In contrast, a negative correlation was found with effort-expectancy. The findings contribute to the understanding of multimodal engagement with GenAI, offering practical implications for organizations and policymakers seeking to design targeted interventions and educational programs that foster effective and inclusive AI use.
