The Impact of Maternal Psychological Aggression on Chinese Adolescent Short Video Addiction: The Mediating Role of Mother-Adolescent Attachment and the Moderating Role of Peer Attachment

Based on previous theories and empirical research, this study primarily explores the impact of maternal psychological aggression on adolescent short-form video addiction, as well as the mediating role of mother-adolescent attachment and the moderating role of peer attachment in relationships. A total of 8064 pairs of mothers and adolescents completed the questionnaire survey, in which the mothers completed the Maternal Psychological Aggression Questionnaire, and the adolescents completed the Teenage Short-Form Video Addiction, Mother-Adolescent Attachment, and Peer Attachment Questionnaires. Research has found that maternal psychological aggression was significantly related to adolescent short-form video addiction. The higher the level of maternal psychological aggression, the more severe the adolescent short-form video addiction. The mother-adolescent relationship plays a mediating role between maternal psychological aggression and adolescent short-form video addiction. Peer attachment plays a significant moderating role in the latter part of the model; when the level of attachment to peers is higher, the influence of mother-adolescent attachment is stronger.
