Addressing substance use disorder and its associated risks necessitates a comprehensive, person-centered approach that can meet the diverse needs of individuals. Implementing a Recovery System of Care (ROSC) aims to shift focus toward abstinence and away from illegal drugs. However, this shift may be at the expense of vital components of care that provide safeguards to help individuals progress on their recovery journeys. This article provides a commentary on a safer way to support individuals navigating the path to recovery.
