Coplanar Biosensor Utilizing CSRR and SRR Metamaterial for Improved Breast Cancer Detection
摘要
Breast cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related death, and hence, it is important to create highly sensitive detection techniques for early diagnosis and treatment. Conventional imaging devices like mammography and MRI are not without their limitations in terms of sensitivity, cost, and accessibility. This paper introduces a coplanar biosensor based on split ring resonators (SRRs) and complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs) for the accurate detection of breast cancer. The biosensor is of 2 GHz frequency and small size 40 × 22 × 1.6 mm3, utilizing electromagnetic coupling between SRRs to create a big frequency shift of 135 MHz, thereby improving sensitivity to tissue changes. It possesses a return loss (S11) of ͨ − 98 dB, which represents outstanding impedance matching and low reflection of the signal, and an ideal voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 1.0005, which facilitates successful power transfer. The results confirm the biosensor’s potential as a highly sensitive, non-invasive, and reliable biomedical diagnostic device, especially in the detection of breast cancer.
