Simulation of a Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor Using a Combination of TiO2 and 2D Materials for Blood Glucose Detection
摘要
An aluminum-coated BK7 prism including TiO2 and two-dimensional (2D) materials such as BP, BlueP/MoS2, graphene, and MoS2 is proposed to design a new surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor. The proposed SPR biosensor was examined to detect the human blood glucose concentration (BGC). The transfer matrix method was employed to simulate the SPR-based BGC sensor. The crucial performance parameters such as sensitivity (S), detection accuracy (DA), and figure of merit (FOM) were calculated. The results indicate that the performance parameters of the proposed SPR-based BGC sensor are improved by using the combination of TiO2 and BP layers. Optimization over Al and TiO2 layer thicknesses and the number of 2D material layers are also done. In the optimized conditions, the proposed SPR-based BGC sensor exhibits 380.66 (deg/RIU), 2.401, and 132.64 (1/RIU) for sensitivity, detection accuracy, and figure of merit, respectively, at the blood glucose concentration of 200 mg/dl. In addition to enhancing sensing capabilities for blood glucose level monitoring, the proposed SPR sensor is paving the way for sensing applications in biomedical engineering.
