Because DAN is multifaceted and difficult to diagnose in daily practice, it is frequently overlooked. Therefore, preoperative screening is paramount. It is essential to diagnose or rule out diabetic sensorimotor polyneuropathy before elective surgery. Wound healing disorders, new pressure ulcers, difficult perioperative pain management, or anesthesia incidents are common. Thus, practical advice regarding the perioperative management of diabetic neuropathies is summarized in this article.</p>
