<p>People with diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of severe infections. This overview summarizes the current German Ständige Impfkommission (STIKO) recommendations for this patient group regarding specific indication-based vaccinations against influenza, pneumococcal disease, COVID-19, herpes zoster, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and hepatitis&#xa0;B (in cases of chronic kidney disease). It also highlights new influenza vaccines as well as the available RSV vaccines and the associated at-risk populations. The use of modern inactivated vaccines for these indication-based immunizations now allows for safe vaccination even in immunosuppressed individuals. Vaccinations should preferably be coadministered in the autumn. In addition, vaccination status should be reviewed regularly and updated as needed to effectively prevent infections and complications.</p>
