摘要

Despite recommendations in scientific guidelines, person-reported outcomes (PROs) have rarely been collected in clinical practice or for quality assurance purposes. There are now several consensus recommendations on which instruments should be used in diabetes and experiences from other countries on how to successfully implement them in practice. It is proposed to define a minimum standard of PROMs (“person reported outcome measures”) for clinical practice (WHO‑5 [5-item World Health Organization Well-Being Index]; PAID [Problem Areas In Diabetes]) and to develop a computer-adapted testing (CAT)-based system that allows efficient and resource-saving collection of the most important patient-relevant information and also provides information for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes-related stress and diabetes-associated mental disorders.
