Screening von dysfunktionalem Essverhalten und Essstörungen
摘要
Disordered eating behaviours are associated with a higher risk of ketoacidosis, diabetes-related complications and poorer metabolic control. However, disordered eating behaviours are underrecognized in diabetological practice.
Research questionWhat are challenges and recommendations in the assessment of disordered eating behaviours in people with diabetes?
MethodsCurrent recommendations in literature were consolidated and insights into the two new studies addressing disordered eating behaviour in diabetes mellitus, DEBBI study and PRO-MENTAL study, were outlined.
ResultsDiabetes-specific instruments such as the Diabetes Eating Problem Survey-Revised (DEPS-R) are recommended to assess disordered eating behaviours in diabetes mellitus. Nonspecific instruments carry the risk of over- and underestimating disordered eating behaviours. The PRO-MENTAL and DEBBI studies confirm the picture that young people with type 1 diabetes are at particular risk of disordered eating behaviour. For people with type 2 diabetes, there is currently a lack of suitable diabetes-specific screening instruments. Thus, results on the prevalence of disordered eating behaviours in German-speaking countries are missing.
