摘要

Protection of the ulcer area is the cornerstone of causative therapy for people with diabetic foot. It is achieved through combinations of immobilization of joints and offloading of the bony structures underneath the ulcer. External protective measures are mostly implemented conservatively, while internal measures are always surgical. Conservative measures such as massive shoe fittings can be considered more intrusive for the life of the affected person than minor surgical interventions. The wise and thorough combination of different measures should enable the affected person to lead a life that is as unimpaired as possible. Conservatively oriented therapists must therefore also master the functional basis of overload and guiding examinations.
