Recent advances in electrocatalysts toward industrialized alkaline electrolysis
摘要
The advancement of cost-effective hydrogen production technologies is severely limited by the lack of electrocatalysts that combine high activity with long-term stability for both the hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions. Despite extensive research efforts worldwide, the performance of these electrocatalysts is hampered by the mechanistic complexity of the reactions under alkaline conditions, as well as the corrosive and high-overpotential operating environment. In this context, we highlight recent progress in the design strategies aimed at improving the activity and durability of HER and OER electrocatalysts, and outline potential research directions toward achieving industrially feasible alkaline water electrolysis.
