Performance evaluation of blockchain food supply chain management system: JkBFMs

In the era of Industry 4.0, where advanced technologies are transforming various industries, the digital food supply chain management system (FSCM) has emerged as a crucial component in today's world. As food supply chains become increasingly complex and globalized, ensuring efficiency in the FSCM has become an urgent necessity. Recognizing this need, our previous paper presented a groundbreaking solution: the Blockchain Integrated Supply Chain Management System for the Government of Jammu Kashmir Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (JkBFMs). The proposed system leverages the power of blockchain technology, specifically integrating the public Ethereum blockchain, IPFS (InterPlanetary File System), smart contracts, and data analytics. By harnessing these cutting-edge technologies, the system aims to address critical challenges faced by stakeholders in the food supply chain, including transparency, trust, data privacy, and scalability. However, implementing such a transformative system requires a comprehensive evaluation of its performance to ensure its effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Therefore, this paper focuses on proposing frameworks to measure the performance of the JkBFMs. To achieve enhanced results, performance metrics specific to blockchain networks such as, throughput, latency, and Round-Trip Time (RTT), have been optimized and integrated into the evaluation process.
