Purpose <p>The objective of this review was to critically evaluate and synthesize existing research regarding the impact of blood flow restriction training on balance outcomes in both athletic and non-athletic individuals presenting with chronic ankle instability. The research question was: how effective is blood flow restriction training in improving balance in athletes and non-athletes with chronic ankle instability?</p> Methods <p>Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, and PEDro were searched systematically. For the quality assessment of included trials, the PEDro scale was used. The Cochrane Risk-of-bias tool version 2 (RoB-2) was used for evaluating the risk of bias among studies. Quantitative synthesis of five of the reviewed trials was done using a random effects model. Heterogeneity was reported using the <i>I</i><sup>2</sup> statistics. Certainty of evidence was assessed using GRADEpro GDT software.</p> Results <p>Seven studies with 218 participants were included in the systematic review. Five studies with 149 participants were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled analysis revealed a non-significant overall effect of blood flow restriction training in improving balance.</p> Conclusion <p>The findings of this systematic review are non-significant for improving balance with blood flow restriction training in athletes and non-athletes with chronic ankle instability.</p>

Purpose
