Comparison of the effect of low and moderate intensity aerobic training on cardiac Apo proteins of diabetic male Wistar rats

The aim of this research was to compare the effect of low and moderate intensity aerobic training on cardiac Apo proteins in diabetic rats.
MethodsThirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: low-intensity aerobic exercise, moderate-intensity aerobic exercise group, and control group. Streptozotocin drug was used to make the animals diabetic. Seventy-two hours after streptozotocin injection, fasting blood glucose above 126 mg/dl was considered as a criterion for the rats to have diabetes. The rats were trained in experimental groups for 8 weeks. Running speed in the low intensity training group was 5–8 m per minute, equivalent to 50–60% of VO2max and in the medium intensity training group, the speed was 22–25 m per minute, equivalent to 80% of max2Vo and the control group of no intervention. At the end of the eighth week, all animals were anesthetized after a night of fasting and blood samples were collected from the heart. The research data were analyzed with statistical methods of one-way analysis of variance at a significance level of less than 5%.
ResultsThe results of this research showed that 8 weeks of low and medium intensity aerobic training has an effect on cardiac Apo proteins A and B in diabetic rats and moderate intensity training caused a greater increase in Apo protein A and a greater decrease in Apo protein B compared to low intensity training.
ConclusionTherefore, it can be concluded that aerobic exercise with moderate intensity is a better solution to deal with the indicators of cardiovascular diseases in people with diabetes.
