<p>Given the dispersed literature on productization research and its significant role in contemporary business contexts, this study aims to thoroughly navigate the landscape of productization research through an extensive analysis of existing literature and publication trends. A qualitative systematic literature review of existing research on productization was conducted. A total of 56 journal articles were analyzed in five steps: (i) planning and problem formulation; (ii) searching the literature; (iii) data gathering and quality evaluation; (iv) data analysis and synthesis; and (v) presenting results. The paper identifies three core types of productization: (i) productization as a process, (ii) productization as an outcome, and (iii) productization as a lifecycle. It further categorizes key enablers that support these types and highlights their implications, both positive and negative, across financial, strategic, operational, and environmental domains. Additionally, the study maps major publication trends and influential contributors within the productization literature. The current research would serve as one of the seminal works, opening avenues for future research to conceptually develop comparative frameworks, empirically assess lifecycle-based productization, and explore cross-industry applicability in both manufacturing and service contexts. The research offers valuable guidance for interested researchers to delve deeper into this domain. The study highlights three key recommendations for managers. First, standardizing services or production processes can reduce errors and improve efficiency. Second, expanding offerings by combining products and services enables firms to strengthen competitiveness and customer value. Third, tailoring productization to different lifecycle stages (full, midstream, or rapid) helps managers balance flexibility, resources, and market demands. These insights provide guidance for aligning productization strategies with industry context, operational maturity, and innovation goals, thereby supporting better-informed decision-making and resource allocation. Being the first of its kind, this paper gathers dispersed knowledge on productization and presents a comprehensive productization framework and publication trends, setting the stage for future research.</p>
