A closer look on patent analytics through systematic literature review

Patent analytics plays a crucial role in influencing technological innovation and development strategies. However, solely describing the process of patent analytics is insufficient; a critical analysis of the methodologies employed, and their practical implications is required. In this paper, we delve into the realm of patent analytics by conducting a systematic literature review (SLR) of 169 papers from the web of science database. Our analysis, which is driven by six important research questions, aims to provide not only an overview of patent analytics but also a deeper understanding of the topic. In addition to shedding light on the obstacles, tools, techniques, and insights of patent analytics, we also consider uncharted territories and future directions.
