A Miniaturized Dual Band Circularly Polarized Antenna for Portable RFID Readers
摘要
This article presents a miniaturized dual-band circularly polarized antenna for portable RFID reader applications. It consists of dual pairs of cross dipoles on both sides of the substrate. These dipole pairs remain orthogonally linked by ring delay lines. A large F-shaped dipole pair is used to achieve the first circular polarization at the resonance frequency of 915 MHz, while smaller half-arrowhead-shaped dipole pairs provide the second circularly polarized frequency at 2.45 GHz. The impedance bandwidths of the antenna are 885–1010 MHz for the 915 MHz band and 2.38–2.54 GHz for the 2.45 GHz band. The 3dB axial ratio bandwidths in the 915 MHz and 2.45 GHz bands are 111 MHz and 225 MHz, respectively. It is designed with a simple feeding network, a radiation efficiency greater than 80%, and has peak gains of 4 dBic and 6.9 dBic at the desired bands. Due to its compact design, it is highly suitable for portable devices.
