An Efficient Gateway Node Selection Method for Clustering in Heterogeneous Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

Node heterogeneity such as different transmission range, battery backup and mobility lead to several issues for the network. To concentrate on these issues, we need some alternatives which can adapt to different characteristics and make decisions for smooth functioning. In the last few years, numerous efforts have been dedicated to clustering methods for wireless mobile ad-hoc networks to result efficient and correct routing procedures. In the context of clustering devices of a cluster nominated as cluster member, cluster head and cluster gateway based on different roles. Clustering leads to cluster-head and gateway selection overhead that requires focusing by researchers. The motive of the work is to study and analyze effects of heterogeneity properties. With this, an efficient gateway selection method is also proposed. The result of the proposed method is evaluated by considering several network performance parameters such as routing overhead, throughput, network lifetime.
