Online tile dispatching framework with guarantees for 360-degree video streaming in wireless networks
摘要
360-degree video streaming in wireless networks has recently attracted significant research attention and widespread adoption. However, several challenges persist in network transmission. The challenges primarily stem from the large bandwidth requirement, time-varying network conditions, and changing Field of View (FoV) of the users, rendering the transmission of the entire 360-degree video economically unviable. In this paper, we introduce an Online Tile Dispatching (OTD) framework with guarantees tailored for 360-degree video streaming in wireless networks. Our framework effectively utilizes various feedback including the bandwidth measurements and the users’ historical FoVs to determine optimal 360-degree video tile dispatching strategies to maximize the users’ Quality of Experience (QoE) and guarantees that the constraints are satisfied. Specifically, within this framework, we develop two algorithms: the Online Tile Dispatching with Long-term constraint (OTD-LT) algorithm, ensuring long-term constraint satisfaction, and the Online Tile Dispatching with Round-wise constraint (OTD-RW) algorithm, guaranteeing constraint adherence at each round. We also prove the sublinear regrets and sublinear violations of both algorithms. Our experiment results based on synthetic and real-world datasets show that our algorithms outperform other algorithms by tracking the bandwidth and users’ FoVs over time.
