<p>This study assessed the safety of commonly consumed fish in Jeddah by analyzing heavy metal contamination in seven species (<i>Trachurus indicus</i>, <i>Decapterus russelli</i>, <i>Sparus pagrus</i>, <i>Mugil cephalus</i>, <i>Carangoides bajad</i>, <i>Hipposcarus longiceps</i>, and <i>Plectropomus leopardus)</i>. Results showed that metal concentrations were lowest in muscle tissues and highest in livers. The overall order of metal abundance was Fe &gt; Zn &gt; Cu &gt; Ba &gt; Mn &gt; Pb &gt; Cd &gt; Hg &gt; Ni. Health risk assessments, including the estimated daily intake, target hazard quotient, hazard index, and target cancer risk, indicate that consumption of these fish species does not pose any significant health risks. All the estimated values were below tolerable daily intake limits set by WHO/FAO, and both THQ and HI values confirmed the absence of non-carcinogenic risks. The study concludes that the examined fish species are safe for human consumption regarding heavy metal contamination.</p>
