<p>Dusty thunderstorms from the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq have severely affected the southern and southwestern regions of Iran, resulting in a huge number of hospitalizations for heart illness, stroke, and deaths. The WHO suggests using the Air Quality and Health Assessment program (Air Q 2.2.3) to&#xa0;evaluate its effect on health. The Meteorology Office for the Khuzestan region published measurements of particles on clear and hazy days. An analysis of PM<sub>10</sub> concentrations in 2023 showed that February and October were the most polluted months, while March and July were the cleanest. The HYSPLIT figures show that Arabian was the source of particles in February, March, August, December, and April, Iraq was the source in July, September, October, and November, and Egypt generated particles in May and June. The findings revealed that short-term exposure to PM<sub>10</sub> was related to increased risks of asthma, respiratory issues, and mortality from cardiovascular disease and stroke. Long-term exposure was associated with a higher prevalence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchitis, and lung cancer, leading to significant mortality in Ahvaz City.</p>
