Bioremediation of Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+) by Active Cell Serratia odorifera TIU10 (STIU10) That Improves Growth and Reduces Bioaccumulation Factor of Vigna radiata L. in Chromium Contaminated Soil

Concern over chemical fertilisers, fungicides, and heavy metals that are harmful because of urbanisation and industrialization is growing on a global scale. One major pollutant metal that is extremely dangerous to people, animals, plants, and the environment is chromium hexavalent. According to this study, Serratia odorifera TIU10 (STIU10) can bioremove chromium (VI) and stimulate the growth of Vigna radiata L. when exposed to chromium (VI) stress. To eliminate Cr (VI), STIU10 uses a variety of processes, including biodegradation, biofilm formation, bioaccumulation, and biosorption. In addition, it generates substances such as hydrogen cyanide, acetoin, ammonia, solubilized phosphate, indole acetic acid, and hydrogen cyanide, which promote plant development and lower bioaccumulation factors in Vigna radiata L. Pot studies showed that STIU10 might raise the levels of chlorophyll and reduces polyphenol in plants exposed to chromium. Therefore, STIU10 appears to be a promising remedy for high-chromium agricultural soil contamination, particularly in the vicinity of industrial sites. Its potential to reduce chromium pollution in agricultural settings is indicated by its dual role of enhancing plant growth and removing chromium.
