<p>Educational leadership programs must provide learning environments where aspiring school leaders can develop skills and knowledge to interrupt the status quo. This article features findings from a collective case study of three Black male principals. The co-authors analyzed findings to consider specific recommendations for school leader preparation programs that support comprehensive mattering and reject the partial and marginal mattering too often experienced by Black male principals. Altogether, the authors consider how pedagogies of freedom can be employed in preparation programs to cultivate skills needed to implement strategies of disruption and resistance for aspiring school leaders and alumni of programs.</p>
