<p> Cities are complex and often demanding habitats for wild organisms, including plants and pollinating insects. Available research indicates the important role of urban areas in biodiversity protection, however, non-bee pollinators (like flies) are often overlooked in urban ecosystems. In this study, we tracked quantum dots-labeled pollen grains transfer between four populations of <i>Hedera helix</i>, a late-season flowering species, that commonly attracts fly visitors. Our study was the first attempt to track pollen grain movements in a pollinator assemblage dominated by flies. Our study shows that the frequency of pollinator visits and pollen transfer were related to the proportion of green areas and umbel density, while pollen transfer was influenced by distance between populations. <i>Hedera helix</i> pollen was transferred between small isolated populations, indicating that these populations may serve as stepping stones for pollinators among patches of urban greenery. Such late flowering green “islands” are especially important considering the lack of food sources in the late growing season.</p>
