<p>This study aimed to evaluate the effects of calcium L-pidolate (CaLP) and reduced crude protein (CP) content in diets for aged breeding quails on performance parameters, egg quality, incubation parameters, and progeny performance. A total of 360 females and 120 males of the lines Fujikura (FJI) and another developed in the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) from 28 weeks of age were assigned in a factorial arrangement (2 lines × 2 levels of CP × 3 levels of CaLP), totaling 12 treatments with 5 replications of 6 females and 2 males. The treatments were: T1 - diet with 22% CP and without CaLP; T2 - diet with 22% CP and 0.015% CaLP; T3 - diet with 22% CP and 0.030% CaLP; T4 - diet with 19.8% CP and without CaLP; T5 - diet with 19.8% CP and 0.015% CaLP; and T6 - diet with 19.8% CP and 0.030% CaLP. No interaction between the factors studied was found on the variables evaluated. Lines differed only in specific egg density, with a higher value for FJI eggs. The reduction in CP and the addition of 0.030% CaLP promoted higher egg production and better feed conversion, without affecting egg quality, fertility, hatching rate, chick weight, and progeny performance up to 21 days of age. In conclusion, it is possible to reduce from 22 to 19.8% CP and add 0.030% CaLP in the diet for breeding meat quails after 28 weeks of age, obtaining higher egg production.</p>
