摘要

The nodes of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) near static sinks are susceptible to early energy depletion due to overuse, which shortens the network's operational lifespan. This limitation can be mitigated by introducing the mobile sink. To reduce the cost of data gathering, it is necessary to construct shorter routes toward the changing locations of the moving sink. In this paper, a Dynamic Energy-Efficient Route Construction Algorithm (DEER-CA) is presented for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) that have grouped nodes and mobile sinks to enhance energy efficiency and network operation lifespan. The rectangular network region is split into many triangular-shaped sections, and in each section, sensor nodes are grouped into clusters. In each cluster, a cluster head is chosen with a new fitness function. A better movement pattern of the sink is introduced, which can guide economic data collection. Data transmission route evaluation is done with pre-defined parameters and the most suitable routes are added to the route tree. The advantages of the new trajectory, the benefits of optimal cluster heads, and the principles of the minimum spanning tree are amalgamated into the proposed system to achieve the objectives. The outcome obtained from the simulation exhibits that the performance of the newly introduced algorithm is better in terms of energy efficiency by 2.07%, packet delivery ratio by 1.06%, throughput by 1.18%, and network life duration by 7.31% when compared with similar past research.
