<p><i>Ixodes</i> (<i>Afrixodes</i>) <i>attenboroughi</i> <b>n. sp.</b> (Acari: Ixodidae) is described based on females ex the southern African vlei rat, <i>Otomys irroratus</i> (Brants) and xeric four-striped grass rat, <i>Rhabdomys pumilio</i> (Sparrman) (Rodentia: Muridae) from Zimbabwe. Females of this new species morphologically similar to those of <i>I. calcarhebes</i> Arthur &amp; Zulu, 1980 and <i>I. hoogstraali</i> Arthur, 1955 and can be distinguished from them by the size of scutum and spiracular plates, distinctness of scutal punctations and porose areas, shape of hypostome, development of spurs on coxae and trochanters, size of syncoxae and overall size.</p>

Ixodes (Afrixodes) attenboroughi n. sp. (Acari: Ixodidae) is described based on females ex the southern African vlei rat, Otomys irroratus (Brants) and xeric four-striped grass rat, Rhabdomys pumilio (Sparrman) (Rodentia: Muridae) from Zimbabwe.
