摘要

The male of Ixodes (Afrixodes) lunatus Neumann, 1907 (Acari: Ixodidae) is described for the first time and the female is redescribed based on specimens ex tenrecs (Afrosoricida: Tenrecidae) and a rat (Rodentia: Muridae) from Madagascar. Males and females of this species are different from other Malagasy species of the subgenus Afrixodes Morel, 1966, by the overall larger size, development of lateral carinae on scutum, shape of basis capituli, size and development of spurs on coxae and development of syncoxae.
