<p>The paper addresses the current state of fundamental scientific research (FSR) in Ukraine and the urgent issues of legal protection for its results. These are analyzed as key factors in the development of innovation and national economic security. It is established that at the present stage, the strong competitive position of leading countries directly depends on the efficient utilization of their scientific and technological potential and on strong legal protection of FSR results. The global experience shows that leading industrial economies have strong institutional and regulatory frameworks that effectively support outcomes of FSR. In contrast, the gaps in the legal protection of FSR in Ukraine contribute to an intellectual outflow, reduced investment attractiveness, and the loss of significant scientific achievements. The performed analysis of selected fundamental research results and their legal protection mechanisms reveals gaps that hinder the implementation of advanced technologies and the further development of knowledge-intensive sectors. The above scientific findings have not only fundamental, but also practical significance, forming the basis for numerous inventions, utility models, and innovative technologies used in high-tech industries. Ensuring the legal protection of fundamental research results is a key strategic objective of state policy across science, innovation, and security. The necessity of establishing an effective economic and legal mechanism for protecting the FSR results in Ukraine is substantiated. Implementing proper legal protection in line with relevant laws and legislation in the specified sphere will ensure a balance between national and scientific interests by creating favorable conditions for transforming scientific achievements into specific technical and technological solutions and advanced technologies. Such an approach also helps preserve intellectual potential and contribute to the formation of an innovation-driven model of economic development with attractive investment opportunities.</p>
