Bamboo Scrimber Tensile Creep and Viscoelastic Properties: Modified Findley Model-Based Simulation of Stress Level Effect and Experimental Verification

Bamboo scrimber is a typical kind of natural fiber-reinforced materials in our daily life, which has the advantages of low cost, abundant resources, and quick recovery after harvesting. In this paper, the tensile property of this material is chosen as the research object. First, the creep load history applied in the creep experiment is obtained through the combined standard tensile fracture experiment and the selected statistical analysis method. Then, the tensile creep experiments under different stress levels were conducted according to the strength parameter obtained in the previous step. Finally, a modified Findley model was selected to analyze the material’s viscoelastic properties. The results showed that the modified Findley model introduced in this paper can accurately reflect the tensile creep behavior of the bamboo scrimber under all the given stress levels. In addition, the stress level effect on the tensile creep behavior was also analyzed in detail, which makes it valuable for wide application and popularization in modern industrial engineering.
