Study on the Effect of Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of Die Forged AZ61+xRE Mg Alloy
摘要
The mechanical properties of as-forged AZ61+xRE Mg alloys were investigated following various aging treatments. The alloys were characterized using optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and tensile testing. Results indicate that the T5 aging treatment significantly outperforms the T6 treatment in terms of mechanical properties. The optimal T5 aging condition for the as-forged AEZ611 (AZ61+1 wt.%RE) alloy was 180℃×21 h, yielding a tensile strength of 328.3 MPa, yield strength of 232 MPa, and elongation of 11.3%. During the heat treatment, the number, morphology, size, and distribution of RE phases remained stable, with no new phases forming. At room temperature, the fracture surface exhibited a mixed ductile-brittle fracture, predominantly ductile. As the temperature increased, the number of dimples on the fracture surface decreased, and the brittle fracture characteristics were notably reduced. At 150℃, a predominantly ductile fracture mechanism was observed.
