Compact Wideband Bot Shaped Monopole Antenna for Vehicular Communication

A compact wideband bot-shaped monopole antenna fed by co-planar waveguide (CPW) is proposed for vehicular communication. By adding two rectangular stubs on either side of the circular monopole antenna, an additional resonance is introduced, thereby improving the bandwidth of the antenna. The bot shaped antenna exhibits multiple resonances while maintaining a compact size of 13 × 12 × 0.5 mm3. Parametric analysis is performed on the key antenna parameters to get wider bandwidth and stable omnidirectional radiation patterns across a wide frequency range. The proposed antenna has a wide impedance bandwidth of 138.4% (4–22 GHz) and peak gain of 7 dBi. The wideband antenna is fabricated using RT5880, and experimental findings match closely with simulation results. Thus, the antenna can be suitable for vehicular-to-vehicle communication and other wireless communications, including Wi-Fi 6E, 5G, and beyond 5G mobile communication systems.
