Advances in Self-Powered Sensing with Triboelectric Nanogenerators: A Review
摘要
It is anticipated that the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence will connect billions of sensors worldwide. Conventional power supply systems may face significant challenges due to the abundance of sensors. The growing energy problem across the globe has prompted the fabrication of many S-POWd (self-powered) sensors, which has accelerated advancements in the energy industry. Energy harvesting has advanced significantly with the creation of highly effective triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) that have remarkable power density and energy conversion capabilities. TENGs are cutting-edge energy-harvesting devices that work according to the principle of electrostatic induction and have the ability to power small portable gadgets. Due to its excellent energy collection performance, low cost, stability, simple designs, high sensitivity and durability, TENGs have made significant advancements in S-POWd sensing. The sensors based on the TENGs are especially good in gathering mechanical energy from irregular movements and low in frequency. It is able to directly transform external mechanical forces into electrical impulses, making the sensors self-driven. TENGs have been utilized in many different fields, such as wearable technology, healthcare and biomedical physical sensors, chemical and environmental monitoring, smart traffic, machine- human interface, smart cities, fabric and fiber sensors, robotics etc. as a powerful mechanical-to-electric energy conversion technology. This study meticulously highlighted the current state of development of TENG based S-POWd sensors used across a range of applications.
