<p>Very few publications on Alexei Ukhtomsky’s thoughts have appeared in English so far. Some of them only briefly mention Ukhtomsky’s theological views. This article aims to partially fill this gap engaging with the available literature in Russian as well as some archival documents. After a brief biographical review based on Ukhtomsky’s diaries and letters, we will, firstly, touch upon his thoughts on prayer and its role in his scientific path. Secondly, we will dwell in more detail on his personalistic views, understanding the idea of personality as an important component of his integral doctrine of the <i>dominanta</i>. Finally, we will focus on Ukhtomsky’s understanding of the role of attention in prayer and discuss his use of the works of the Holy Fathers of the Church, in particular the authors included in the collection <i>Dobrotoliubie</i>.</p>

摘要

Very few publications on Alexei Ukhtomsky’s thoughts have appeared in English so far. Some of them only briefly mention Ukhtomsky’s theological views. This article aims to partially fill this gap engaging with the available literature in Russian as well as some archival documents.
