<p>The interaction of frost-heaving soil with a pile protected with OSPT Reline – a heat-shrinkable anti-frost-heave jacket – was investigated using specially designed test benches that simulate open-system conditions in containers with one-sided soil freezing. The application of OSPT Reline reduced the specific shear forces of frost heaving acting on a metal pile (09G2S steel) by 41% and decreased vertical pile displacement due to frost heaving by 82%.</p>
