<p>An analysis of conventional methods for defining the primary subsidence pressure and structural strength of loess soils is given. The paper presents the results of the laboratory definition of the subsidence characteristics of loess soils. Consideration is given to the ambiguity of the identification of the terms primary subsidence pressure and structural strength of soils, and to their fundamental difference.</p>
