<p>New methodologies for determining the volume loss in cohesionless (loose) soils and for calculating surface and foundation settlement during tunneling operations have been presented, based on the well-known expression by Peck (1969), taking into account the Mohr–Coulomb strength criterion and additional loading. The calculation results obtained using the proposed methodologies demonstrated good agreement with monitoring data. The recommendations can be utilized in the development of normative documents.</p>
