Application of Sonic Integrity Testing to the Reliability Assessment of Pile Foundations In Permafrost Thawing Areas

On the example of a comprehensive geocryological and geophysical survey of the area around an apartment building located in a thermokarst and talik formation zone, the present article analyzes the experience of using sonic integrity testing. The potential of sonic integrity testing for determining the pile depth and studying the engineering geocryological profile of foundation beds is demonstrated. It is recommended that sonic integrity testing be developed as a universal tool for analyzing the risks of bearing ability loss in foundations and assessing risks associated with the operation of buildings in the context of permafrost degradation.
