<p>This article reviews Joanna Osiejewicz’s monograph ‘International Legal Communication: A Paradigmatic Approach’, published in June 2026 by Routledge (open access), focusing on the book’s contribution to the interdisciplinary exploration of the intersection of law, language and communication. Following an introduction, outlining the book’s aim and its author’s background, the article presents an overview of its structure and the content of particular chapters. In its attempt to delineate a paradigm for international legal communication, the monograph first explores the notions of a paradigm and the paradigmatic method. In the three subsequent chapters, it discusses a plethora of phenomena from the perspectives of particular actors in international legal communication: lawmakers, recipients and legal professionals. These fall into place by forming a map of a field that is convincingly portrayed as requiring its own tailored perspective. Osiejewicz adopts an inclusive approach, emphasising the need for collaboration among representatives of various disciplines, particularly legal science and linguistics. The article’s next section briefly refers to other fields clustered around law, language and communication, in particular legal translation studies (LTS) and legal linguistics, whose contributions to research on international legal communication are already significant and can be further enhanced in a collaborative spirit. The review concludes by emphasising the usefulness of the monograph for the diverse readership of the ‘International Journal for the Semiotics of Law’. It also underscores the example the book sets for open-minded collaboration among scholars examining law, language and communication from different angles.</p>
