<p>Individuals with profound autism and intellectual disabilities often require substantial daily support, yet they are underrepresented in terms of resources and research. While over 80% of behavior analysts work in autism-related services, it remains unclear how many focus on those with higher support needs. The term “profound autism” refers to individuals requiring 24-h care, typically associated with significant intellectual disabilities or limited communication abilities. This paper highlights the lack of resources, particularly in sexuality education, for this population. To address this gap, the SAFER (Sexual Awareness and Focused Education Review) tool was developed to assess and support the sexual education needs of individuals with profound disabilities. The tool evaluates critical areas such as communication, physical safety, consent, and hygiene, using a combination of participant responses, caregiver insights, and direct observations. By offering a culturally sensitive and structured approach, the SAFER tool aims to promote independence, safety, and an improved quality of life for individuals with profound disabilities. This paper underscores the need for targeted resources like the SAFER tool to better support individuals with profound autism and intellectual disabilities in navigating their sexual health and safety.</p>
