On the issue of edge sharpening of a high-voltage nanosecond voltage pulse using corrugated gyromagnetic lines with saturated ferrite
摘要
The experimental results on sharpening of the front of a nanosecond high-voltage pulse from a SINUS-200 accelerator, using corrugated nonlinear transmission lines designed for a generation frequency of 3 GHz, are presented. It is shown that there is no sharpening within a line segment equal to a quarter of the total line length, and the microwave generation starts as early as at the midpoint of the line. This relationship is also observed in numerical modeling using specialized software code. The research results suggest that in order to sharpen the high-voltage pulse front it is recommended to use short segments of nonlinear lines with different periods of magnet and ferrite locations, the electrical length of which is comparable to or less than the front duration itself.
