Effect of homogenization annealing and equal channel angular pressing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of magnesium alloy Mg-1Zn-0.15Ca

摘要

The microstructural features and mechanical properties of the Mg-1Zn‑0.15Ca alloy after homogenization annealing at T = 450 °C are investigated. The annealing is shown to result in a homogeneous distribution of zinc in the grain volume. The stabilization of the grain size after annealing for 4–12 h is attributed to the influence of globular particles at the boundaries. The equal channel angle pressing reduced the average size from 300 μm to 3 μm. This provided an increase in strength and elongation to 270 MPa and 13%, respectively.
