Effect of multipass friction stir processing on structure formation, mechanical and tribological properties of CuSn6 copper alloy

The samples of CuSn6 copper alloy are produced by multipass friction stir processing. Their examination reveals the presence of 5.8–7.6 μm equiaxed grains formed in the stir zone. A decrease in tensile strength and an increase in ductility are observed as a result of material de-hardening in the stir zone after its processing. The coefficients of friction and wear decrease after multi-pass processing.
